유럽산 우유 무관세 수입 허용...

26년 7월부터 유럽산 우유가 무관세로 수입 허용되었다는 소식을 보고, 함 찾아봤다.

우유가 유통기한이 짧아서 수입이 어려울텐데... 멸균 우유가 수입되는 모양이다. 생각해 보니... 멸균 우유라면 테트라팩처럼 포장을 잘하면 해상운송으로도 유통기한이 맞을 수도 있겠지 싶다.

근데 맛은 약간 떨어진다. 하지만 맛이란 곧 익숙해진다. 그리고 사실 그리 큰 맛 차이는 없다. 우유 가격이 1/3 수준으로 떨어질 것이다.

일반 소비자는 그렇다치고... 빵, 커피, 아이스크림, 버터, 치즈 등 상업용으로 우유를 많이 사용하는 곳에서는 국내산을 고집할 이유가 없어질 것 같다.

​

가장 큰 문제는 우유를 직접 생산하는 낙농업자들이 것 같다. 근데 막땅히 대책이 없을 것 같기도 하고, 국내 업계의 상황을 잘 모르니 나도 잘 모르겠지만, 걱정, 고민이 많을 듯 싶다.

암튼 그동안 일반 소비자는 엄청 비싸게 우유를 사 먹어야 했는데... 일반 소비자용 제품의 가격은 떨어질 것이다. 하지만 '업체'는 다른 것 같다. 빵 치즈 버터 크림 등의 완제품에 저렴한 유럽산 우유를 사용했다고, 과연 업체들이 완제품 가격을 내릴까...? 전쟁 중에도 기름값 담합해서 올리는 얘들인데.... 개가 똥을 끊을 수 있을까...? 글쎄...

Duty-Free Import of European Milk…

I saw the news that starting July 2026, European milk will be allowed in duty-free, so I looked into it.

• January 2026: U.S. milk duty-free.

• July 2026: Expansion to European milk duty-free.

Because milk has a short shelf life, importing it would normally be difficult… but it seems sterilized milk is what’s being imported. Thinking about it, if it’s sterilized milk and packaged well (like in Tetra Pak), then even by sea transport the shelf life could work out.

The taste is a bit inferior, but taste is something people get used to. And honestly, the difference isn’t that big. Milk prices will drop to about one-third of current levels.

For ordinary consumers, that’s good news. But for bakeries, coffee shops, ice cream makers, butter and cheese producers—places that use milk commercially—there will be little reason to insist on domestic milk anymore.

The biggest problem will be for dairy farmers who produce milk directly. I don’t know the domestic industry situation well, but it seems they’ll face serious worries and challenges, with few countermeasures.

Anyway, until now ordinary consumers had to pay very high prices for milk… now retail product prices should fall. But for companies, it’s different. Even if they use cheaper European milk in bread, cheese, butter, cream, etc., will they really lower the price of finished products? These are the same companies that collude to raise fuel prices even during wartime… can a dog stop eating poop? Hard to believe.
