▶얼마전 작성해 두었던 위 링크의 라벨 프린터에 대해 공부한 후... 고민끝에 라벨 송장 바코드 인쇄기를 장만하였다. 여전히 바코드 라벨 프린터가 왜 (일반 레이저프린터와 비교할 때) 비싼 것인지 잘 모르겠다. 내가 모르는 영역이 있겠지.

​결론/후기: 우여곡절을 겪고 설치가 완료되어... 현재 사용중인데... 열전사 방식이라고 해서 잉크 혹은 레이저 프린터처럼 깨끗하거나 선명하지는 않다. 다만, 감열식 보다 글자가 좀 더 찐한 정도의 수준인 것 같다. 그래도 열전사 방식이니 감열식 보다는 인쇄 글자의 내구성은 좀 더 오래가기를 흐망해 본다.

​그림이나 이미지는 아예 프린트가 안 된다. 무료 바텐더 UltraLite SW가 사용하기에는 많이 허접하고, 드라이버가 지원하는 수준이 낮아서 이미지 인쇄가 안 돼기 때문인 것 같다. 유료 바텐더를 쓰면 (이미지 인쇄가 잘 될지) 어떨지 모르겠다.

​암튼 그런 이유로 TSC 바코드 프린터는 텍스트 혹은 바코드 같은 아주 단순한 형태의 라벨 인쇄에만 사용할 수 있는 수준이다.

▶ After studying the label printer linked above that I had noted some time ago, I finally decided to get a label invoice barcode printer. I still don’t really understand why barcode label printers are so much more expensive compared to regular laser printers—there must be areas I don’t know about.

▶ I considered buying the TTP-247, but it seemed unnecessary for me. Since the specs are almost identical to the 244 (the only difference being serial vs. parallel; everything else is the same), I went with the TTP-244 Pro.

▶ So, now I need to download, read, watch, and learn all the drivers, manuals, and usage instructions for the TTP-244. The 247, with nearly identical specs, shouldn’t be much different.

But when I brought it to the office, I realized it was actually a TTP-243 Pro. Ugh… my faith in humanity is fading. Of course, it’s partly my fault for not checking carefully. Conclusion / Review: After some ups and downs, installation is complete and I’m using it now. Since it’s thermal transfer, the print quality isn’t as clean or sharp as inkjet or laser printers. It’s just a bit darker than direct thermal printing. Still, being thermal transfer, I hope the durability of the printed text will last longer than thermal labels.

Images don’t print at all. The free BarTender UltraLite software is pretty basic, and the driver support is limited, so image printing doesn’t work. Maybe with the paid version of BarTender it would.

So, the TSC barcode printer is really only suitable for very simple label printing—text or barcodes.
