▶본 ’Get English Writing‘은 그냥 개인적 영어 재미/학습/공부/연습을 목적을 적성하는 나의 ’영어 글쓰기‘ 연습이다. 사실 갈수록 영어 읽고 쓰고 말할 일이 없어져서… 논리적인 글 보다는 그냥 '영어 글쓰기 연습'에 중점울 두었다.
아래에 사용된 단어, 숙어 표현에 대한 추가설명이 없더라도 양해 바라며, 각자 알아서 보시고, 읽으시거나… 읽지않고 무시하셔도 좋다. 나 개인적 Writing 연습용인데 굳이 쓸데없는 말들을 덧붙이는 것이 너무 귀찮고 번거롭다. 양해 바란다.
A Memorial day on the patio
It was Memorial Day, and Alex had invited his friends over to his house. The patio was filled with the smoky aroma of different cuisines-bratwurst sausages sizzling on the grill, ribs coated in sticky barbecue sauce, pulled pork slowly roasting, and bowls of cole slaw waiting on the table.
As the ate, someone pointed the flag hanging nearby, referring to its emblematic meaning of sacrifice and freedom. The conversation was lively, but eventually began to frizzle out as everyone leaned back in their chairs, full and content.
Alex looked down at his Vans shoes, scuffed from running around all day, and thought about how decent the gathering has been. It wasn't fancy, but it was perfect-friends, food, and a quiet reminder of what the day stood for.
patio: 집앞에 있는 테라스. 한국에는 잘 없어서 이해가 잘 안 갈 수도 있다.
aroma: 음식 냄새에는 smell이나 odor 등을 쓰지 않고, aroma를 쓴다.
bratwust sausage: 독일식 소세지를 말한다.
cole slaw: 마요네즈(?)와 식초를 버무린 일종의 양배추 셀러드다.
pulled pork: 잘게 찢어 놓은 돼지고기다.
